Cisco Certification | Revisit OSI Model Large Resolution

I believe that everyone who has passed the Cisco certification will not forget the OSI model. As the core of CCNA, CCNP and CCIE certification knowledge, the OSI model is the focus of online learning. Today, let everyone revisit the classic OSI model.

The Open System Interconnection Communication Reference Model (referred to as the OSI model) is a seven-layer concept communication reference model. The OSI model is a standard framework that attempts to interconnect various computers into a network worldwide.

➤ Physical layer:
• The lowest physical layer of the OSI model is the transmission and reception of unstructured raw bitstreams on physical media.
• It defines physical media such as cable/fiber, card and physical function interfaces.
• It transmits signals to all upper layers.

➤ Data link layer:
• Responsible for error-free data frame transmission from one node to another through the physical layer.
• Control upper layer communication to be transmitted without errors in the link layer.

➤ Network layer:
• Control the operation of subnets, depending on network conditions, service priorities and other factors, determine the physical path of data transmission.

➤ Transport layer:
 Ensure that the packet is completed without error and order, and that there is no loss or no duplication.

➤ Session layer:
• Establish a session between processes running on different sites.

➤ Presentation layer:
• Format the data presented to the application layer. It can be considered a network translator.
• Transform applications and network formats into each other.

➤ Application layer:
• A window to access the network as a user and application process.
